Provider Benefits

Benefits

  • Improve performance on high priority care measures through use of proven tools and resources to enhance CDS/PI strategy and execution:
    • Provides integrated view of target-focused CDS interventions across workflows that span the care continuum - e.g., to support PI efforts within PCMHs and ACOs
    • Provides a structured tool for improving stakeholder communication and engagement, e.g., helping CDS and PI teams work more efficiently together and with clinicians and patients they seek to support
    • Allows for faster CDS/PI innovation and spread, e.g., through reinforced attention to CDS 5 rights during design, and helping other facilities adopt the successful CDS approaches used by the most effective sites
    • Enhances strategic planning by highlighting the strengths and limitations of current target-focused CDS approaches and identifying promising enhancements
  • Enables access to an emerging shared library of CDS configuration documents completed and used by other healthcare organizations in the Collaborative
  • Permits access to Collaborative forums to share approaches and seek advice on developing, implementing and evaluating target-focused CDS interventions
  • Encourages participation in vendor-specific Collaborative sub-communities (as they are created) to share and improve targeted CDS strategies in more vendor-specific terms
  • Enables work with Collaborative providers, vendors and other participants to identify shared impediments to accelerating CDS/PI activities (e.g., lack of needed CDS-related interoperability standards) and develop solutions.

Collaborative-enabled Activities to realize benefits:

              • Identify improvement imperatives that are an organizational priority and for which CDS can strongly influence performance
              • Use the CDS/QI Worksheets to document your organization's current and planned CDS interventions for the highest priority targets
              • Discuss worksheets with key stakeholders (e.g. CDS, IT, PI, Clinical teams) informally and in appropriate committee venues; use it for engagement, planning, implementation and evaluation
              • Share your internally vetted worksheet in the Collaborative's private library, and review completed templates on targets of interest submitted by other organizations; bring promising new strategies into your local efforts
              • Widely disseminate successful CDS/PI strategies across the across the enterprise
              • Work with Collaborative provider, HIT vendor, federal agency and other participants to identify shared impediments to accelerating CDS/PI activities (e.g., lack of needed CDS-related interoperability standards) and develop strategies (e.g., speaking with a common voice to standard development organizations) about approaches to addressing them.
