ONC CDS4MU Feedback

This page is for gathering input into the ONC CDS4MU Project, which is developing tools and resources to support CDS-enabled Quality Improvement (QI) for Meaningful Use (MU) and similar healthcare performance improvement efforts. The Care Delivery Improvement Toolkit houses these tools and resources.

CDS4MU Overview

  • Goal: Widely used and useful offering that helps RECs/EPs/EHs leverage CDS to measurably improve MU (and related) clinical quality measures
  • Process: CDS4MU leverages materials from the CDS/PI Collaborative, HIMSS CDS guidebooks, and other pertinent initiatives
  • Deliverables: Toolkit consists of three Training Units to drive CDS-enabled QI. The Training Units are organized as follows:
      1. Introduction to CDS-enabled Quality Improvement
      2. Improving Targeted Quality Measures
      3. Strengthing CDS/QI Capabilities to Address Many Targets
  • Dissemination: Training Unit deliverables are expected to be freely available on HealthIT.gov by September 2013

Opportunity for Input

  • The next section describes specific project-related documents on which feedback is welcomed; these documents are posted at the bottom of this page
  • If you can only review one document, consider beginning with the one highlighted below.
  • The "Feedback Channels" heading below contains links through which you can share your feedback and discuss the project.
  • If you are using CDS approaches that are supporting high performance on Million Hearts targets (Aspirin Use, Blood Pressure/Cholesterol Control, Smoking Cessation) - we'd like to speak with you. Please send email to Lynne Schabert and Jerry Osheroff.

Documents Available for Feedback (see bottom of this page, and click down arrow to download and review files)

  • Introduction to Clinical Decision Support-enabled Quality Improvement
    • Versions of this presentation have been used with dozens of providers and REC staff to introduce them to a structured approach for applying health information technology in their quality improvement efforts. It provides an overview of the contents in the Care Delivery Improvement Toolkit.
  • Draft CDS Configuration Templates
    • These templates are a cornerstone of the 3rd Training Unit that help users analyze, document and improve target-focused workflows (see Excel file at the bottom of the page and click on the down arrow on the right of the document to download).
