From 12/19 Weekly Team Meeting:
* We recently drafted a users' guide to help familiarize people with
the project and the CDS configuration template. The home page of the
guide is intended to help users' navigate the available material
including steps to completing the template. The notes below are from
the pilot site meeting this past Monday, December 19.
* Don Levick suggested providing an example of the template earlier in the guide
under completing the template to put the material in context.
* Susan said the guide seems easy to use, but it may make sense to introduce
the template before discussing the benefits of using the template. In
addition, a lot of the pages are really wordy. It's a lot for a user
to read through.
* At a high level, the users' guide makes sense.
However, when we get into the detail, the guide needs further
refinement.
* Another suggestion is to lump the benefits together so
that they are easier for a reader to absorb.
* Patrick suggested a
"What's New" section so that a user can easily see what's new and
improved - especially for existing users. May be able to do this under
"Recent Activity."
* Jerry suggested that one of the pages that may be
most useful to the pilots is the CDS configurations and venues to give
pilots ideas about how to roll out the template within their
organizations. Can use bullets as a checklist to determine if you are
getting the greatest value out of presenting the template.
* Craig thought there may be too much information related to using CDS in
general that doesn't specifically relate to the template. Jerry said
that some of what Craig is assuming is not what will be part of the
guide. The objective is to document and share target-focused
CDS improvements.
* The purpose of the guide is so that the next
person interested in using the configuration template will know what
to do. Jerry's sense is that there is a lot of good work taking place
in the pilots and he wants to accelerate the work so it is more
efficient and effective by putting pilot information on the site.
Jerry asked the pilots if the CDS pages like venues and uses and
sample presentation page are useful to the pilots.
*Caroline suggested that information on "barriers to use" may be helpful. What would be
most useful to the pilots in what they are trying to do within their
organizations? Caroline said that if she filled out the template and
nurses called patients needing HA1c tests will only work if the
nurses' work process supports this. Understanding barriers and
facilitators may be helpful in letting people anticipate potential
problems.
* Craig suggested that the slides put together for the first
All Participant meeting may be helpful. The pilots agreed to having
us post those slides.
