The trip was to have blessings and cursing's. The trip could only be undertaken by a fully laden 3.5-ton Land Cruiser because any lesser vehicle would have been picked up by the flies and carried away.
The weather was also very hot reaching 35 most days and 39 on the last and hardest days.
On the plus side the evenings were lovely and cool. We also had very little to no traffic as most of the time was spent on the lesser used WAA Line across the Simpson. Too Continue reading please find attached link Simpson Desert Trip
We (Greg & Kerry) joined Tony, Maxine and the kids at Thirroul and travelled to Central where we met the rest of the group at the new revamped Central Station.
We enjoyed sharing the journey to Robertson with Marge and Greg pointing out the scenery and the brilliant waratahs - that were growing along the tracks.
After lunch and we had a stroll around Robertson before the return journey, with brakes squealing as we descended back to the coast.

Barry & Jo, Greg & Kerry and Tony A. met early on Friday morning bound for Moruya to compete for the title of Black Diamond Fisher of the Trip and take home the converted "Golden Hook" trophy.
Our campsite, Glenduart River Farm, was not far out of town and right on the riverbank. We had the whole campground to ourselves and about 50 cows. With the camp set up, no time was wasted in casting the lines and the competition began.

After camping at the Diggs for the past 8 days building the carport (see Diamond Diggs carport trip report) it was fitting we should celebrate with a well earned meal at the hotel. I thought why not a Christmas themed night supporting Op shops.
The deal was to attended you had to purchase your outfit from an Op-shop.
A prize was also added as incentive for best and worst dressed. Too Continue reading please find attached link Op-Shop Christmas in July
The majority of the crew meet at HMAS Albatross at 9:30 am, the last of a late starts for a few days. We all headed of to the Diggs for a relaxed set up knowing some of us would be here for a while. After lunch a "site meeting" was held to determine the location of the carport and container. After much discussion a site was picked and it was determined the site would need to be levelled before work could commence. Lee fired up his excavator to level the area whilst the rest of the crew proceed to start with the shed A frames. Time was called a 4 pm for happy hour followed by dinner and the sitting around at the fire until bed time.

Day 1 - Broken Hill to Bendleby Ranges 350kms
Met up outside the Cemetery at Broken Hill (hoping this was not to be an omen) to start the journey to Bendleby Ranges.
We headed towards Yunta when not too far out of Broken Hill Greg calls over the radio that he will need to stop as he needs to make a running repair to his stone stomper. Barry replied, "good call because I will also need to fix my stone stomper". At this stage Fabio and Lesley are thinking is it too late to turn around.

We all met at Sally's corner on the Friday. Easy drive into camp. Tony and I set up in the pouring rain for the first time with our new tent. So that was fun. Saturday, we went on a nice drive to Lowell's Flat and Mcintyre's Hut that was supposed to get back around 2.30pm. Somewhere along the line there was a change of trip leader and "Barry's mystic tour" began. Too Continue reading please find attached link The Brindabellas
