This was a first for a couple of members who had never been down to YAWAL before. We all met at Dunmore. 5 cars left Dunmore Rest Area at 8 am on a dull day, which was looking like rain. The first stop was at MACCAS at Bomaderry to pick up 2 more cars. I let Richard lead the way as I had never been in this area before down to Main Rd 92 and onto Dean Gap Fire Trail where we all aired down.
Prior to heading off, we needed to talk about 2 member’s cars. JO Mesh had very little knowledge on a lot of things so we all mentored him throughout the day from airing down to airing up. The other car was JT’s as he had all the knowledge to tackle where we were going, but his new car was not well equipped, although, the only thing that concerned him was that he had only a standard lift. By the end of the day, it had been to places that surprised him.
Off we headed. The tracks weren’t too hard and most of us managed 75% of the tracks and with the chicken tracks available they came in handy for a few of us. There was only one minor problem where we needed recovery and it was me who caused it with Richard on the winch and it cost me $20 for Lenore’s boys to wash it.
Before we headed home, we ended up at Jerrawangala Lookout great views of the South Coast then down the mountain to Wandandian to air up. Half of us went to MACCAS at STH NOWRA, while the rest headed home.
A GREAT DAY OUT
