We departed Horsley on the Warrigal minibus at around 7:00 am with Lee driving the bus and Denis, Riz and Lennie, Blanche and myself onboard. We began the rounds of picking up our fellow passengers starting with the Thorns, followed by Rob and Lenore then Fabio and Leslie who needed to be reminded that their house would not lock itself up. Lee and I were the last to make it to the meeting place at Sally's Corner and found out that Michael and Belinda had continued past the meeting place after seeing a Facebook post stating the meeting place was at the entrance to Abercrombie River National Park. Michael was not wrong as our club was meeting the other clubs at the said entrance so it was an easy misunderstanding to make. We got hold of Michael and Belinda on the radio and arranged for them to join the convoy at Goulburn. Too Continue reading please find attached link The Glen Tree Planting
Well, it started out looking like our trip leader (Trev) was going to be late, but with a minute to spare he appeared, which upset me as I was unable to fine him. We had 9 cars leave and head down the new Berry bypass towards Braidwood Road to meet up with 2 others, Tayt and his mate Jason. We were on the way to our first stop Jerrawangala Lookout for morning tea with views as far as Gerroa, Ulladulla, Jervis Bay, and Swan Lake.

“Are we going the right way? Yes, I think so. Is this a road? Well, it looks like a road, and it matches the map so-yup I guess it’s the road-maybe” If you’re having a conversation something like the above, on a trip to an area that you’ve never been to before, perhaps it’s time to stop and have a rethink.

An early start to get to Sally’s Corner to meet the rest of the group. It was a smaller group than expected as David (Shep) had to attend a family funeral. Shep has arranged to meet us in Broken Hill on Thursday night, after travelling to Dubbo by train, then by bus to Broken Hill.

Having started preparation for this some time ago, this joint initiative between National Parks and the 4WD Association only really came together at the last minute with tree “tube stock” being ready to plant - so a last-minute trip was put together for a flash run to the Glen(Abercrombie NP). The brief was to drop off a trailer that was to stay onsite and also to help out Jules (the Ranger in charge) with putting some seedlings in the ground.

Having scored Easter Thursday off, Me & Shari along with J.B & Wendy headed off to Bowman's house stopping for lunch in Berrima. After being stopped for a donation at the tunnel we arrived at the Goodman’s ford gate about 2:30 pm. After putting the club lock on the gate we left the public behind for four days of R & R with a little work in-between. Too Continue reading please find attached link Bownans House
We have recently spent two nights at Dunns Swamp in the Ganguddy campground and have marked it as a ‘must return’ and thought we would share it with you. What we enjoyed most about the ‘swamp’ was that it was a very picturesque setting. A beautiful lake surrounded by scribbly gums and truly, weird pagoda rock formations. The well-marked walks through the bush and by the water were not too difficult, with many birds and native animals to look out for.

After more than a week of rain and the weather last weekend necessitating the postponement of the Sandy Beach camp, we were pleased to awaken to sunny skies. Four vehicles arrived early at Dunmore Rest Area and lead by Mary Anne and Allan, we headed off south to Nowra, then west and past Nerriga and along the Oallen Ford Road. We pulled in at a property entrance and met up with Shari and Ian who had been waiting by the wrong gate, an entrance which was no longer used. We left home at 6 am to meet at Sally’s Corner at 8 am, picking up coffee and toast from Macca’s. Arrived at the meeting point and Nick & Liz were already there. Nick had been awake early and was raring to go. Soon after we were all there and ready to go. We (Janet & Ken) were trip leaders today. Too Continue reading please find attached link Tasmania
