June 2016
Participants: Lee & Nic; Peter; Rob & Lenore; Greg & Marg; Ken & Janet; John & Wendy.
Hosted by Sydney District 4wd Club held at Eastern Creek Association 4wd test track.
After meeting on the Picton Road at 8am we made our way to Eastern Creek. Unfortunately, we left Greg and Marge behind on the Picton Road as Marge had to stop at the rest area with the toilet and we were all at the next rest area and Lee drove off without them. (ooops)
Gazebo city was set up and then we got down to business on the morning tea. Heaps and heaps of beautiful homemade cakes, scones, banana bread etc and copious amounts of hot tea and coffee was on hand. While the rain was holding off several people took the opportunity to drive the test track. Apparently Lenore had the most fun of all. Kids were playing in the sand pit and creating their own 4wd track. (I wonder where they learn this stuff from).
Tug-A War began with the Black Diamond Club challenging the 4wd Association committee. Plenty of cheating going on and unfortunately we lost but it did get the fun started and plenty of challenges followed. The rain started and really set in around 11am but gazebo city held up and forced clubs to mingle. The BBQ was fired up and beautiful sausage and onion sangas were on sale. The day finished around 2pm after a wet and soggy pack up but all in all, it was very successful. $8,600 dollars raised for cancer research.
The day was enjoyed by all, and next year’s event is already on the drawing board with a target of $10,000
