Due to an overwhelming dearth of volunteers, a last-minute decision was made to change the time to Saturday at 1 PM. The Bertolla’s & the Poulton’s were the only listed attendees, so the change wasn’t difficult.
William Beach Park was ‘packed’, the busiest that I’ve ever seen it, so we parked on the south side of the causeway unloaded the boats and put them into the water there, rather than at the usual embarkation point on the beach in the park.

Well, we had just had a week of rain but Saturday 1st December dawned bright and sunny, perfect weather for a cruise on Sydney Harbour. The bus began picking up passengers in Oak Flats at about 1:45 pm and picked people up along the Princes Highway through to Thirroul, before heading up Bulli Pass en route to Sydney. We stopped in Corrimal to purchase refreshments for the journey and had an uneventful trip up, even though Lee noticed the bus temperature control was stuck on high. He mentioned this to Bernie the driver, but he seemed unconcerned and we didn’t break down, so all good because I would have had a hard time stopping Lee from doing bus repairs in his good clothes. October Long Weekend 2018
The meeting time for our trip to Bowman;s house was 8:30 am and although we arrived at 8:20 we were still the last ones there hence the writing of this report. The trip to Goodman’s Ford was uneventful, not even the bushrangers at the tunnel collecting their usual toll.
We picked up John & Wendy at the Ford and headed through the gate of the National Park on the track to Bowmans. JZ was last through the gate and had issues with the club padlock. I jumped into Ryan’s car, as a Suzuki is easier to turn round on the track to help JZ, whilst Shari headed to camp with the KK.

This was a first for a couple of members who had never been down to YAWAL before. We all met at Dunmore. 5 cars left Dunmore Rest Area at 8 am on a dull day, which was looking like rain. The first stop was at MACCAS at Bomaderry to pick up 2 more cars. I let Richard lead the way as I had never been in this area before down to Main Rd 92 and onto Dean Gap Fire Trail where we all aired down.

It was a great day out. We all met at McDonalds/Bunnings car park in Warrawong. I spoke to everyone involved regarding what was required on the day and we all headed off about 10.10 am. Ken led the way to the open gate which was opened by Mick from Wollongong City Council the day before. Once we all met at the site, Ken and I explained where we had to go, which would have been about one kilometre to where the cars for removal were.

6 a.m. is a terrible time to be up and doing stuff but that was necessary to allow us to get to the Nungarry Rest Area for the agreed 6.30 a.m. start of the trip.
Initially, I had planned for 3 vehicles but Matt had to drop out to attend to some wedding planning [seriously, which is more important an awesome 4wd trip or some pre- wedding stuff). Anyway, that left Fab and Lesley plus Anne and me to do the work of checking out Bendethra for our, "to be planned club trip".

An early Saturday morning was had by all, John and Anne and Richard met at Nungarry Rest Area at 5.30 am, then met up with Lesley, Fabio and Peter at Bewong Roadhouse at 6.30 am. The weather was looking a bit ominous as we headed south to Batemans Bay, with dark clouds & a few spots of rain, but the further south we went the better the weather became, and the sun shone at our breakfast stop at Batemans Bay McDonalds.
