This version of Cuthbert Phelps shown below is the possible ancestor of the several YDNA-tested Phelps with origins in Tyrrell County, NC. This hypothesis is very tentative and much more remains to be done on the paper trail and DNA research . The first version below was submitted by W. H Freeman who likely is a descendant, with assistance by Douglas K. Phelps, to help in the study. We invite others to contribute primary source material for corrections or to add to the descendants. In NC by 1690 and in Tyrrell by 1700. m. Mary (first name also recorded as vars. of Cut- & Cud-, ending with -beard & -bard)
