This version of Cuthbert Phelps shown below is the possible ancestor of the several YDNA-tested Phelps with origins in Tyrrell County, NC. This hypothesis is very tentative and much more remains to be done on the paper trail and DNA research . The first version below was submitted by W. In NC by 1690 and in Tyrrell by 1700. m. Mary (first name also recorded as vars. of Cut- & Cud-, ending with -beard & -bard)
