This Thomas is NOT the son of James of Caswell, but lived at the same general time.
From K Mann: The unknown Thomas, tithe of John of Bedford in 1748 (we still haven't figured out who he is).....if this Thomas tithe was aged 16 to 21 in 1748, he fits the age of the unknown Thomas in Caswell b. circa 1727 who is near your James. I'm not swearing that's who it is- it's just a thought.
D Phelps: In the Bedford Phelps page I wrote Using John’s will, (of Bedford, d. 1772) it is curious that there is only one son. Could it be that the Caswell, NC James (d 1786)) could have been a son of this John – but was omitted from John’s will? Even more interesting is the possibility that a son Thomas was omitted from the will, considering the unknown origins of the "older Thomas" of Caswell, NC b 1727 (not Thomas the son of James of Caswell).
