Biography & Curriculum

Antonio Manno was born and lived in Urbino; he studied in Venice and London and lives and works in Venice; he graduated from the University Institute of Architecture with a thesis in architectural history dedicated to urban and rural planning in England (1980) and received his doctorate in History of Architecture and Urban Planning (1988); he obtained the qualification to teach History of Art (First place in the ranking for the Veneto region) and taught in High Schools from 1985 to 2019; he received two scholarships at the 'Andrea Palladio' International Study Center in Vicenza; he was a member of the National Executive A.N.I.S.A. (National Association of Art History Teachers); he was a resident partner of the 'Ateneo Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti' from 2006 to 2017; he teach at the 'Università Internazionale dell'Arte' from 2013 to 2020; he collaborated with the magazine "Studi Veneziani" of the G. Cini Foundation of Venice from 1985 to 2022. He currently lectures and is continuing his study and publication activity on the history of Venetian art and architecture.

Current research areas: sacred art, iconology, art education. Publications: english town planning and housing, the Palmanova's fortress, the painter Tintoretto, Saint Marc the evangelist, arts and crafts in Venice (Gambrinus prize, 1996), the Ducal Palace capitals in Venice. He published an illustrated guide entitled "The Treasures of Venice", edited by WhiteStar and National Geographic, translated into English, French, Spanish, German and Hungarian.
