So what have we done in the past 3 days? Prototyping. Prototyping. Prototyping. And we decided on our drive base.
Throughout our prototyping (hopefully all of which is linked to in thisdocument), we got a lot of inspiration from the groups that did Robot in 3 days (link) (link) as well as the 2008 FRC games, which involved throwing balls very similar to those we have this year.
We also seriously considered running a swerve drive (image from FRC 2517) to increase our maneuverability, as swerve drives can drive side to side (video from FRC 1717), but in the end we stuck with west coast drive (image from FRC 3647) as we do not want to spend the majority of build season trying to get a swerve drive to move. We have now ordered our West Coast drive gearboxes and they claim they will ship on the 15th of January.
In the next couple days we will continue prototyping in hopes of gaining insight as to whether a long robot or wide robot will be better for us for this competition.

Ahora hemos pedido nuestras cajas de engranajes de accionamiento de la Costa Oeste, y afirman que serán entregados el 15 de enero.
En los próximos días vamos a continuar la creación de prototipos con la esperanza de obtener una visión de si una larga robot o robot de ancho será mejor para nosotros para esta competición.
