Roots Cafe

Siena Fresh teamed with Siena's Sr. Thea Bowman Center for Women to host Roots Cafe, a weekly event where  meals that align with the "Real Food" model were served for lunch on campus.  Weekly options incorporated food that falls under one of the categories of local, organic, environmentally sustainable or Fair Trade.  These delicious meals were served by volunteering Siena students in Massry Dining Hall every Wednesday during the academic year. Menus could be found on their Facebook page.

They introduced Conflict kitchens, a concept that began in a Philadelphia community to foster peaceful relationships with folks from areas of conflict (e.g. Congo, Syria), and created a relationship with RISSE, inviting refugees from these areas to the community table each month.

For the 2019-2020 school year, Roots’  focused on more plant based dishes, for environmental and health reasons.
