Rain Gardens

Siena has two Rain Gardens on campus; one next to McGuire Hall and the other near the Standish Library. These gardens, built by members of Siena's Environmental Studies and Science Department with the help of the Facilities Department, are depressions that capture rainfall runoff and allow the water to slowly be absorbed into the ground rather than flow to streams or cause flooding in nearby areas, such as the baseball field. They also improve overall water quality and provide habitat for wildlife on campus.
