Free Use Closet

Founded by Kiley Lenahan '23, the Free Use Closet is a student led effort to increase sustainability on campus.  It works simply and effectively -- any student can donate old clothes, and any student can take from the closet for free.  In establishing this system, free use closets like the one at Siena not only reduce textile waste, but also make it easier for people to access the clothing they need.  The beauty of the closet is in its anonymity -- any student can go on a free shopping spree there, reducing the stigma for students who need clothing, and allowing everyone to increase their wardrobe without contributing to textile waste.

Since its establishment, the Siena Free Use Closet has hosted multiple successful pop-ups, and has now secured further support from Siena's Green Revolving Fund, which will allow the operation to expand even further.  The future is looking bright for not just the Free Use Closet, but all of Siena's fashion lovers!

Currently, donations to the Free Use Closet are being accepted at the Political Science Office (Siena Hall 321).  Feel free to drop off any washed, gently used clothing there, and follow the Free Use Closet on Instagram (@sienasaintsupply) for updates on future events!
