The new walkway by the Standish library was built to connect the baseball field parking lot to the path around the Quad. Facilities constructed the walkway to cover a dirt path that turned into a stream during rain events. This muddy stream would flow to a storm drain set to empty into a wetland, possibly contaminating the area with fertilizers and toxins that could alter the ecosystem. Construction utilized recycled limestone from summer remodeling of the Siena Hall staircase to create a beautiful sidewalk and sitting area.
