UPPER SCHOOL
2025-2026
2025-2026
Dear Upper School Families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break.
We only have two weeks of regular school remaining followed by our semester Exams (Dec 15-19). We hope our students use what time remains to really give that extra push academically.
As we wrap up the first semester, I want to remind everyone that students’ grades play an important role in determining their eligibility to participate in athletics during the second semester, in accordance with FHSAA requirements.
Please keep in mind that final eligibility may not be determined until after grades are posted. This means some students may be able to try out for a team, but if their semester grades don’t meet the FHSAA academic standard, they may not be eligible to compete once the season begins. The FHSAA standard is that a student must have a cumulative unweighted 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale at the beginning of each semester.
We encourage all of our student-athletes to finish the semester strong, because every grade matters. If you have any questions about eligibility or how this might affect your child, please reach out to the Athletics Office. We’re happy to help.
Prior to the break, our Upper School and Middle School students were gracious audiences as Sam Demma brought his high-energy, “Empty Your Backpack” message to campus. Sam reminded us all to let go of what weighs us down and lead with empathy, courage and connection. Your student received a copy of his book, which was made possible - along with his visit, through the generosity of donors inspired by the Pyxis Fund, supporting programs that help Shorecrest students grow into compassionate, resilient leaders.
Have a wonderful week!

Spring Sports Sign Ups will take place in the Athletics Office Monday, December 8 through Friday, December 12. Any Upper School student wishing to participate in Baseball, Lacrosse, Softball, Tennis, and/or Track & Field should stop by the Athletics Office during break, lunch or after school to sign up. MS students will sign up during their PE classes.
These sign ups help coaches and the Athletics Office know how many students are interested in participating in a particular sport. The Athletics Office also double checks that the students who signed up have completed all their athletics paperwork before the first practice/tryout takes place. This helps to ensure that all students are eligible to participate from day one of the new season.
ALL STUDENTS WISHING TO PARTICIPATE IN A SPRING SPORT MUST BE CLEARED THROUGH THE ATHLETIC CLEARANCE SYSTEM* at least 72 hours BEFORE THEIR FIRST PRACTICE. Click here for the Athletic Clearance Guide to help you with this process.
*The Athletic Clearance system is used for collecting athletic physicals and other important Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) information for student participation in sports.
We will begin scheduling junior family college counseling meetings soon.
Student and Parent Surveys due December 2
Both the Junior Student Fall Questionnaire and Junior Parent Insight Survey are available in Cialfo.
Please complete these before your scheduled family meeting or by December 2. These surveys serve as important tools to help aid our family meetings and eventually letters of recommendation.
Consider applying for the Coolidge Scholarship which is a full-ride, presidential scholarship that covers a student’s tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years at any accredited college/university. Apply by December 16.
Remember to turn in pink sheets and meet with your college counselor to review Common App, STARS, and supplementals before submitting applications. If you need or would like progress/mid-semester/Q1 grades sent to any college, please fill out a gold sheet in the CCO.
Money Matters presentation slides from November 18 are available on the College Counseling Schoology Page (Affording College Week folder). Also see the growing list of scholarships available for your research.

College visits have wrapped up for the fall. We may still get a few requests for spring visits. They will be listed in Cialfo as they are approved.
When a student visits a college/takes a college tour, they must complete a College Visit form prior to the day they will be absent. These are located in the Shorecrest Community Page under Forms. This digital form is quick and easy to complete.
As a reminder, Juniors are allowed three college visit absences, Seniors are allowed five.
The Financial Aid portal for the 2026-2027 school year is now open. Past recipients who wish to continue receiving financial aid must reapply annually. All families interested in receiving financial aid must submit an application through FACTS, the external tool used by Shorecrest and many independent schools to determine need.
The application fee is $45 and supporting documentation is required including past year's W2s and tax returns. The application also includes a place to share your family's extenuating circumstances confidentially with the Financial Aid Committee. The deadline to apply for aid for the 2026-2027 school year is January 31, 2026.
Families who have students they wish to send to Shorecrest for the 2026-2027 school year who are not currently enrolled (e.g. younger siblings) now is the time to apply. The application deadline is February 1, in order to be considered for the first round of admissions decisions.
The re-enrollment process for students who are currently enrolled to commit to returning for the 2026-2027 school year is in February.
Re-enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year at Shorecrest will take place February 2-16, 2026. This is the time during which currently enrolled families with students who are eligible to return for the 2026-2027 school year are asked to complete their re-enrollment contracts and pay a non-refundable tuition deposit. This deposit and contract hold your child’s seat for the 2026-2027 school year.
Re-enrollment is completed through the FACTS Family Portal. New this year, re-enrollment packets will be assigned by family (not by student), meaning that families with multiple children re-enrolling at Shorecrest will have fewer steps to complete the re-enrollment process.
Shorecrest volunteer needs can also be found by clicking Volunteer Info on the menu here, or on the Shorecrest Parent App.
If you or your child would like a copy of the 2025-2026 Crestviews Yearbook, which features the full Alpha-Grade 12 school, please place your online order using the link below. Yearbooks are $80. (Families of seniors do not need to order yearbooks. They are a part of the senior fee.)
