MIDDLE SCHOOL
2025-2026
2025-2026
Good afternoon,
This is our last full week of school! This year has passed quickly, and there have been so many great events and milestones. A special Shorecrest News this Friday will include media from MS Awards, US Awards, Commencement and more. View the MS Awards video by logging in on our Community Portal. Photos may be found here.
This week we begin our 7th and 8th grade exams and the end of year events for 5th and 6th grades.
7th and 8th grade exams begin on Friday, May 22, 2026. Please refer to the email that was sent to you by your grade level team the last week in April. It gives a very detailed description of the schedule and timing of events.
There is no lunch or Middle School Afterhours for 7th and 8th graders after exams.
The entire fifth grade will be performing the play "Aesop Live!" It is an attempted retelling of all of Aesop's Fables - including well-known ones like "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" and "The Tortoise and the Hare," as well as some lesser-known fables such as "The Frogs and the Ox" and "The Thirsty Pigeon." It's a fun, fast-paced frolic through fables that show off what the 5th grade has been learning and embraces the morals we can learn from fables in a funny, light-hearted way.
This is a free event for families and friends this Friday, May 22 at 2pm in the Janet Root Theatre.
The 8th grade has organized a snack collection to benefit The Kind Mouse through May 20. We have placed donation bins in the hallways where students can drop off items for local children in need. To ensure we provide a variety of items, we have assigned specific snacks to each grade:
5th Grade: Pasta/Meat Snack Packs, Beanee Weenees, Vienna Sausages, and Chef Boyardee SpaghettiOs.
6th Grade: Individual "hospitality size" Cereal, Juice Boxes, Applesauce Cups, and Peanut Butter or Cheese Crackers.
7th Grade: Jello and Pudding cups, Slim Jims, Fruit Cups and Granola Bars.
8th Grade: Individual Vanilla and Chocolate Milk cartons (shelf-stable), Spaghetti & Meatballs, Beefaroni, and Ravioli.
While these are suggestions from The Kind Mouse, you are welcome to bring other items. However all donations must be snack size individual servings a first grader can open on their own. They cannot require preparation or cooking. Thank you for helping our students support this wonderful cause!
You should have received your invitation to the annual Eighth Grade Moving Up Breakfast on Thursday, May 21. Please make sure to RSVP the number of guests that will be attending. After breakfast the students will receive their yearbooks to sign. If you did not order a yearbook earlier this year there are extras available for purchase in the School Store.
Please turn in your permission slips for the end of year field trip to Fossil Park.
Have a great week,
Kris Grant
