In this page, you will find information to help you get started in terms of thinking about whether you might have ADHD. You do not have to have a diagnosis to attend our support group sessions. If you have other questions about exploring the possibility of a formal ADHD diagnosis, please contact DDSS with the details below.
If you are interested in being assessed for ADHD, the first step to take is to speak with your doctor. They can talk to you about this and refer you for an ADHD assessment if appropriate. If you are registered with the University Health Service your GP will also provide you - and DDSS - with a medical evidence form which confirms that you have been referred for an ADHD assessment and can be considered to have a 'working diagnosis' of ADHD from this point on.
This is helpful because it provides us with enough evidence to begin to offer you disability support even before you have a formal ADHD diagnosis. For more details on how to providing evidence, please check the button below.
Once we have received this medical evidence, a DDSS Disability Adviser will email you to invite you to make an appointment to talk about what disability support we could put in place for you straight away. We will then be in touch with you again to review this support once we receive a copy of your formal ADHD diagnostic assessment report.
