NCEA Level 2 Chemistry

Aims

To prepare learners who are considering a science-related career
To develop an overview of all substance types and many of the basic principles behind the properties of substances
To show learners the wide relevance of chemical ideas and build their confidence with practical techniques

Learners will:

Investigate and describe the production, properties and uses of groups of substances
Carry out simple qualitative and quantitative investigations to obtain, interpret and use a range of chemical information

There are a variety of assessment tasks and school examinations. Externally assessed topics are examined nationally at the end of the year.

Full course completion — 23 credits in NCEA Chemistry Level 2

A satisfactory level of achievement in Year 11 Science - in particular for chemistry related content.
