NCEA Level 2 Dance
This may be taught as a composite Level 2 and Level 3 class.
Aims
- Work in a creative environment that strengthens social interactions 
- Integrate thinking, moving and feeling using dance elements, vocabularies, processes and technologies to express personal, group and cultural identities 
- Generate and develop literacies in dance vocabularies and processes with your own choreographic ideas being realised 
- Communicate meanings, feelings, and interpretive understandings of the world using a variety of Dance genres and contexts 
- Use traditional and new technologies to engage in performance while critically analysing and reflecting on your own and other creators practises from different context. 
Content 
Dance Choreography - Generates, plans and records choreographic ideas and processes
Dance Performance - Extends skills in the vocabulary, practises and technologies of selected dance genres and styles
Dance Perspectives - Analyses, explains and discusses aspects of performance and choreography in a range of dance works
Assessment 
There will be a variety of internally and externally assessed standards selected from the table below. Performances range in scale with site specific and studio dances. Learners need to choreograph, rehearse and reflect using some of their own time to complement the course. A brief portfolio, predominantly filmed with clips from class and written journal entries, is collated to support the practical work.
Qualification gained 
Full course completion – 18 credits in NCEA Dance Level 2
