NCEA Level 3 Painting
Aims 
- To study, in depth, painting processes in a chosen area via the study of selected historical and contemporary established practice 
- To develop skills so that the student can demonstrate understanding by making visual responses to her chosen subject and models 
Course Content 
Learners develop in-depth knowledge via guided and individualised study of relevant historical and contemporary painting art practice. Learners investigate and use a range of conventions via analysis of selected artist models in the production of an individual body of work submitted for examination. At the end of the year the learner will have a body of work to use as a portfolio for application to a tertiary institution.

Thematic project work: Internal and external examination
Qualification gained 
Full course completion — 22-26 credits in NCEA Visual Arts Level 3
