YEAR 11 Design and Visual Communication
Aims
To teach students skills that provide a sound foundation in the principles of architectural, product and graphic design.
Course Content
Students are taught a variety of freehand and instrumental drawing techniques in order to develop concepts for architectural and product design contexts. Resolved ideas are then used in the development of CAD models that are presented in graphic design applications. In this process, students learn how to use specialist design software such as; Archicad, Fusion 360, Adobe Illustrator and Indesign.
Skills
Through studying Design and Visual Communication, students are challenged to be innovative, creative, and to show initiative. Students are encouraged to think deeply about their designs’ application and consider the requirements of their designs’ construction with visual communication.
Assessment
In class assessments, school examinations and one NCEA standard
