NCEA Level 2 Mathematics Pure

Aim

This course is intended for students who have gained all credits in Mathematics at Level 1. This course allows students to continue onto NCEA Level 3 Calculus or NCEA Level 3 Statistics.

Course content

  • Manipulating algebraic expressions and solving equations

  • Sketching and interpreting non-linear graphs

  • Finding and using straightforward derivatives and integrals

  • Applying probability methods

  • Introduction to normal distribution

  • Solving practical trigonometry problems

Assessment

There are a variety of assessment tasks and school examinations. Externally assessed topics are examined nationally at the end of the year.

Qualification gained

Full course completion - 20 credits in NCEA Level 2 Mathematics
