NCEA Level 3 Financial Literacy

Aim

This course is intended for students who have not always found the study of Mathematics easy but are keen to continue with the subject. The course develops students ability to work with statistics on a practical level and includes a clear focus on personal finance.

Course content

  • Determining the trend for time series data

  • Determining relationships using bivariate data

  • Evaluating statistically based reports

  • Understanding risk and return

  • Setting a complex personal goal and plan for its implementation

  • Showing an understanding of critical paths leading into basic project planning

Assessment

There are a variety of assessment tasks and school examinations. Externally assessed topics are examined nationally at the end of the year.

Qualification gained

Full course completion - 22 credits at NCEA Level 3

Note: The two Unit Standards do not qualify for University Entrance, so to gain the 14 UE credits from this class you must pass all of the Achievement Standards including the External.
