NCEA Level 2 Painting

Aims

To develop confidence and ability in producing artworks towards a chosen area of study.

Course Content

Students develop in-depth knowledge via guided and individualised study of relevant historical and contemporary painting art practice. Students investigate and use a range of conventions via analysis of selected artist models in the production of an individual a body of work submitted for examination.

Assessment

Thematic project work: Internal and external examination.

Qualification Gained

Full course completion — 20 credits in NCEA Visual Art Level 2

Prior knowledge required

Prior knowledge acquired through NCEA Visual Art Level 1 or on submission of a small portfolio to HoD and Year level Dean.

This course provides the prior knowledge recommended for students wishing to take NCEA Level 3 Painting.
