YEAR 11 Physical Education

Aims

To develop in students an awareness of their own physical ability, introducing them to new activities and to some of the scientific knowledge associated with exercise and physical activity. Students will be reflecitve of thier practices throughout the year and have the opportunity to engage in leadership and enhance interpersonal skills.

Course Content

  • Participate in a wide range of physical activities, individual, team and recreational

  • Investigate issues in sport, specifically concerning the influence of the media today

  • Uncover theory covering aspects of body structure and function in relation to physical activity

  • Explore Outdoor Education pursuits – culminating in a Rail Trail expedition, with a safety focus

  • Challenge themselves in skill development programmes on a variety of physical activities

Assessment

In class assessments, school examinations and one NCEA standard.
