Seymour High School, in cooperation with the Selective Service System, would like to remind all male students of their legal obligation to register with the Selective Service within 30 days before or after their 18th birthday. Failure to register is a serious federal criminal offense carrying penalties of up to $250,000 in fines and/or five (5) years in jail. Registering is also a requirement to be eligible for federally funded job training programs, college student loans, and employment with the federal government and many state, county and municipal governments. Since we do not want any young man to suffer any adverse consequences, we urge full compliance with the requirements of this important civic responsibility.
