Use of Beepers/Paging devices/Cellular telephones/Cameras/Video cameras/Digital Music or Video recorders or players/Portable video games etc.
Disciplinary action may be taken against any student for using a cellular telephone or other electronic devices, such as pagers, laser pointers and attachments that is otherwise not banned by this policy, in any manner that disrupts the educational environment, including using the device to cheat, signal others, or otherwise violate student conduct rules. Unless otherwise banned under this policy, all electronic devices must be kept off and out of sight during instructional time. Use of video cameras, telephones, or other electronic devices with the ability to record pictures, video, or audio is strictly prohibited. If a student chooses to bring an electronic device to school the school district will not be responsible for loss or theft of such an item. All electronic devices, headphones and other listening devices are to be stored in a student’s locker. Use of electronic devices during instructional time may result in a discipline referral. During instructional time electronic devices may only be used with teacher approval, in that teacher’s particular class, for educational purposes. Otherwise, electronic devices are not to be used during instructional time. The consequence for such behavior will require the student to surrender the electronic device to the teacher and/or administrator for the remainder of the day.
Digital device and ear bud/headphones and ear bud or headphone wires violations are considered any of the following,
Ringing beeping or making any noise while put away or out.
Out anywhere in the building between the hours of 7:30 and 2:00 for any reason unless the teacher directs a student to take their device or earbuds/headphones out and use it for an educational purpose.
While being directed to use it for an educational purpose it is then used for any other reason.
Procedures
Note: Failure to comply with confiscation requests will result in the administration being called. At the administrator's discretion, and based on the circumstances and if any prior violations occurred, administrative consequences may result in immediate detentions, ISS, OSS, loss of any or all senior privilege including parking on campus revocation of school-sponsored extracurricular activities such as dances or senior events and field trips, loss of club and or sports participation and loss of network access on non-school issued devices.

The administration will respond in this order Paul Lucke, James Freund, and Melissa Anelli.
In-class digital device (earbuds will follow the same procedure but not wifi privilege revocation)
First violation - One verbal warning for the year to put the digital device away.
Second violation - The teacher confiscates the device and brings it to the main office for the student to pick up at the end of the day.
The teacher calls home to inform parents that subsequent violations will result in the parents having to pick up the device and administrative consequences.
Teacher detention
Third and subsequent violations - The teacher confiscates the device and brings it to the main office for parents to pick up.
Immediate email to administrator - title the email DD Class and in the body include details - send email to Paul Lucke
Referral in PowerSchool (same content as email - please copy and paste into email). The administrator will review to determine if previous referrals have been made by the same or different staff members and then apply the following consequences
The first referral to Administration will result in an administrative detention.
The second referral will result in In-school suspension and revocation of the network privilege for any non-school-issued device for the remainder of the school year.
Third and subsequent referrals will result in in-school suspension, revocation of any or all senior privileges up to and including parking on campus, revocation of school-sponsored extracurricular activities such as dances or senior events and field trips, loss of club and or sport participation.
Classroom
Students who utilize our school-issued devices and violate our policy will be referred to the administration.
In class, if this occurs any work being done for the class in which the violation occurred will receive a 0 and referral to the administration.
Students may lose their right to utilize our network for non-school-issued devices.
Administrative consequences will occur.
At the administrator's discretion revocation of any or all senior privileges up to and including parking on campus, revocation of school-sponsored extracurricular activities such as dances or senior events and field trips, loss of club and or sport participation.
If it is in a study hall students will be referred and will no longer be able to use a school-issued device in the study hall or the library.
Students may lose their right to utilize our network for non-school-issued devices.
Administrative consequences will occur.
At the administrator's discretion revocation of any or all senior privileges up to and including parking on campus, revocation of school-sponsored extracurricular activities such as dances or senior events and field trips, loss of club and or sport participation.
