May 2023

From the Editor

We wanted to be able to get one more quick issue in before the end of the school year. Everything is winding down, finals season is growing nearer by the day, and summer is just around the corner.

In this issue, Andre has a poem that incorporates a theme of time, and how the best use of time might be to do nothing.  He also has another haiku that encaptures the beauty of nature and how the littlest of moments hold deep meaning. Mr. V-K also has a From the Archives that also embodies the symbolism and essence of nature on Earth.

We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to be able to share our stories with you all over this year and years prior. It's been amazing to have been a part of such a wonderful group of guys, and I wish everyone nothing but the best.

Until next time,

Evan Carrillo

The Passage of Time

The passage of time is

A hard force to reckon with. ...

From the Archives

Editor's note:  Each of these poems -- Laura Kingsbury's from the May 1990 edition and Belle Francisco's from 1991 -- certainly fall under our "Everything Under the Sun" theme, with each offering its own small surprises and pleasures.  Both students were attentive to the rhythms, the music, of the language they employed.  Enjoy!    - Mr. V.-K.

Nature's Song

Laura Kingsbury

A lake.

Still, serene and placid.

Unscathed by human's harmful hand
