A Very COVID Christmas

From the Editor

As we continue to write, Covid-19 continues to get worse and worse. We wanted to write about the holiday season this year because it will be very much affected by the virus. Thus deciding the theme of our newest issue as, "A Very COVID Christmas."

Elijah wrote a very creative and neat poem about the holidays and fits our theme perfectly. Isaiah wrote a Christmas story that captures the spirit of the holiday season. I wrote a short story that embraces the holiday spirit, while not ignoring the sad realities of COVID many are dealing with.

We are really happy to be publishing this issue, and are looking forward to supplying our next.

Signing off,

Evan Carrillo

I could imagine it right now--my entire family coming together eating turkey and chicken on Christmas day and me sitting next to my cousins. The joy I normally have being next to my family and playing video games with my cousins. Unfortunately, we are in the year 2020, and this has been an unforgettable year with the Covid-19 pandemic. ...

From the Archives

Editor's note: One might think that the prospects of celebrating the holidays in the face of a persistent pandemic are as bleak as one might ever see, but our From the Archives selection from the 1991 issue of 451 Press by Mike Johnson reveals an alternatively bleak holiday picture altogether. Mr. Johnson employs, however, a Beat-esque, semi-stream-of-consciousness, highly vivid image set and word palette that makes his poem worth visiting again and again. - Mr. V-K
