Claremont Graduating Students

Robynn would like to thank her mum for going to every single volleyball game, and her dad for making days greater with a “Good morning” from his chair. Robynn can't wait to attend Douglas but she dreads missing family and not being close to the ones she loves most

Victoria is excited to attend UBC Okanagan next fall to study Political Science. She would like to thank her family, friends and coaches for making the last four years so memorable. Shout out to her English teachers for being able to read her writing.

Mykayla is a dynamic and confident individual with a loud and vibrant personality—you can often hear her before you see her. With multiple Ys, As, and Ms in her name, she never misses a chance to remind me when I spell it wrong. Sorry, Mykayla! Despite her boisterous nature, Mykayla is always respectful and considerate of others. Known for her intelligence, fascinating stories, and strong opinions, she has shown unwavering commitment to Indigenous leadership team. Mykayla has been a passionate advocate for cultural awareness and preservation within our school, making a significant impact within our learning community. Mykayla's dream is to become a paramedic, a career that perfectly aligns with their compassionate and caring nature. Throughout her learning journey, Mykayla has expressed deep gratitude for the support and encouragement from friends, family, and some teachers. Congratulations on your graduation, Mykayla! We wish you all the best as you pursue your goal of becoming a paramedic. Thank you for being a beacon of energy and positivity, and keeping me in line during your time at Claremont.

Genevieve's quiet strength, dedication, and hard work have earned her the respect and admiration of peers and teachers. Her politeness and kind demeanor make her a beloved community member. She is quite shy, but when you get to know her, watch out. Her commitment to excellence is evident in her impressive academic achievements and tireless work ethic. Notably, she has made significant contributions to the Indigenous leadership team, promoting and preserving Indigenous culture within our school. After graduation, Genevieve is heading to Camosun to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. And, to top it off, today is her birthday, what a great way to celebrate your birthday. We wish you all the best on your journey, Genevieve! Congratulations and good luck!

Ella - Rose is a confident young woman who is both respectful and highly respected by her peers and teachers. Her vibrant personality, positive attitude and smile lights up any room she enters. As a proud Indigenous woman, Ella has shown a strong commitment to her Indigenous culture, advocating for cultural awareness and preservation within our school district. Ella's talent and perseverance on the volleyball court are unmistakable. Her hard work has paid off as she secured a spot on the senior team at Claremont. Additionally, she proudly represented herself, her family, and her community at NAIGs, which is amazing. Her intelligence and dedication always see her through to success. She loves to procrastinate, however, she has learnt to write to do lists to remind her to do it later. She is deeply thankful for the support and encouragement from the people around her, never missing an opportunity to express her gratitude. After graduation, Ella plans on attending Fanshawe College in London Ontario to do a general degree. I will miss our long chats about nothing and will not miss you rolling your eyes at me. We wish you all the very best as you embark on your next adventures, Congratulations Ella!

Madeline would like to thank her teachers, family, friends, and coaches for their support over the last few years. She is excited to move onto the next chapter of her life and continue her education in the fall.

Joshua is excited to be crossing the stage today.  He is thankful for his dad, loved ones, friends, and teachers who have been highly supportive of him over the last 4 years of his schooling.

Simeon

Andrew is a reserved yet confident young man whose respectful nature and strong sense of self make him a standout individual. His quiet demeanor is balanced by his confidence, both on and off the lacrosse field, where he excels as a skilled and dedicated player. I tried to get him to play rugby, he gave it a go and then said, NO THANKS. Walking the halls of Claremont as a proud Indigenous man, with a OKAY sense of style, and an ALRIGHT collection of shoes, Andrew has played a significant role in educating others about the importance of Indigenous culture and traditions. He has profoundly impacted my understanding and approach to Indigenous culture and how I build relationships with young Indigenous people, for which I am deeply grateful. Congratulations on your graduation, Andrew! We are proud of your accomplishments and confident that you will continue to achieve great things. Thank you for your dedication and for being an inspiring member of our school community.

Joshua is a constantly smiling and confident young man who is both respectful and highly respected by his peers and teachers. As a proud Indigenous individual, he has demonstrated remarkable resilience in his learning journey, never shying away from challenges. His commitment to Indigenous education is unwavering, and he actively promotes the importance of cultural awareness and preservation within our school. Also a strong advocate for mental health, especially for young men, using his voice to push for greater understanding and support in this critical area. He is deeply thankful for the support and encouragement from the people around him, always expressing his gratitude with genuine sincerity. Congratulations on your graduation, Josh! We are proud of your achievements and confident that you will continue to make a positive impact. Thank you for your dedication and for being such an inspiring member of our school community.

Storm  has a truly lovely heart, and it shines through to everyone lucky enough to spend time with her. She is a hard working, respectful, and popular individual young lady who has made a lasting impact on everyone around her. Known for her dedication and strong work ethic, Storm has consistently set high standards for herself and those around her. It took two years for me to convince her to play rugby and she finally said yes. This previous month she won her second Rugby Provincial championship. Storm has used her voice to advocate for significant changes in Indigenous education within the district, learning more about how to promote and preserve Indigenous culture in our school community. After graduation, Storm is off to the University of Victoria (UVic), where she plans to study Biology Psychology. We wish you all the best on your journey, Storm! Congratulations and good luck!

Ollie - To the Claremont grads of 2024: Ollie feels like he just got here! He is proud of his Victoria roots and is grateful for the many friends he has made throughout the years. Ollie would like to thank his family, billets, teachers and coaches for supporting him playing hockey.

Cailin

Cailin is a smart, kind, and thoughtful young lady. She is an excellent and skilled artist and a good friend. With people like Cailin out there in the world I feel like we are much better for it. For those that take the time to listen and pay attention, Cailin is observant and hilarious with a fantastic personality. Cailin has made a positive impact in her time here at Claremont, being part implementing more Indigenous culture and teachings throughout the school, and being an advocate for the Institute of Global Solutions. We will miss you. Good luck Cailin!

Cheyanne

Cheyanne is incredibly gifted, and enthusiastically shares her talents with the world, whether it is a kind word, a warm laugh, or a helping hand. For those of you who have had the pleasure of knowing Cheyanne, you know that she is SO creative and hardworking. She loves to share W̱SÁNEĆ culture, hosting workshops for the community and our district. Claremont and SD63 are so lucky to have you Cheyanne, and we know wherever you go you will succeed.

Marcus

Marcus is an easy going, respectful, and bright young man. He has been part of Claremont’s Lacrosse team since grade 9 and has mastered and refined his skills to become a great athlete. Always with a smile or a quick joke, Marcus brings joy and laughter wherever he goes. He’s so well liked in the school, he’s hard to find because he’s always with a different crew during lunchtime. He has helped our Indigenous Leadership group grow, and we will be sad to see him go. Good luck Marcus!!!

Natasha

During her time at Claremont Natasha has fiercely supported Indigenous students by promoting the TRC Calls to Action and advocating for the expansion of the cultural room and promoting more Indigenous signage around the school. Natasha was also an integral member of the Girls Rugby Team who won the 2022 Vancouver Island 7s Championship and placed 2nd at Provincials. Natasha is strong willed and very outspoken, and those skills will help her as she continues on in her journey in post-secondary. Natasha’s thoughtfulness, enthusiasm, and leadership will be thoroughly missed. We can’t wait to see what you do in life!

Nick

Nicholas is a lovely young man who has grown with confidence in his 4 years at Claremont. He has shown resilience and toughness to get to where he is today. Nick would like to give a big thanks to all his friends, family and teachers who supported him. He would also like to give a special thanks to Ms. De Klerk who was always there when he wanted or needed someone to listen and talk to. Good luck Nick!

June 2021

Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2021!

We are incredibly proud of this year's graduating students. They have shared their lives with us over the past four years and have made Claremont a better place to be through their contributions in classes and extra-curricular activities, as well as their leadership through the Claremont Indigenous Team. We wish you a life of purpose, creativity, and continued learning. Be proud of who you are and may your heart lead you to happiness!

Alexandra B

Alexandra is truly an amazing young woman!  Her dedicated, caring nature and her exceptional work ethic have propelled her to achieve the top mark in many of her classes at Claremont, and for her efforts she was recently awarded a full-ride $30,000 entrance scholarship offer to attend UBC Okanagan in the Fall!  She is excited to continue her studies at the post-secondary level in the field of health care with a focus on nursing.  While we will greatly miss her presence both in the school and volunteering in our local community, we know that she is destined for great things and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors!

Dallas C

A hard working and diligent student that has a quiet grace about him, Dallas is  someone that has proven that he is not afraid to challenge himself in his classes.  He has always been consistently respectful and grateful to his teachers, and he enjoyed his time in a variety of subjects at Claremont including many hands-on activities in our tech ed departments.  Dallas is very thankful for his parent support along the way, and he is looking forward to his next steps for life after high school!

Jakob N

Jakob is excited to have committed to the University of Victoria Vikes Basketball program next year. This is the culmination of many years on a number of different teams, including the Claremont Spartans who finished 7th in the Province last year, multiple Vikes Nation club teams, and two B.C. teams for the North American Indigenous Games where his U14 team received a silver medal!  (Unfortunately, although Jakob also made the U19 team as a 17-year old, he was not able to go to Halifax due to COVID)

Jakob is also thrilled to have been accepted into the Environmental Studies program with the knowledge that the First People's House is a Canadian leader among universities and that will guarantee that Indigenous ways of knowing will be recognized as will his Cree and Metis heritage.

Matthew G

Matthew is a polite, intelligent young man whose level of talent truly knows no bounds.  In his Capstone presentation this year, Matthew proceeded to showcase one of the most creative and extensive fantasy character collections we had ever seen, a huge collection that was solely created by him including: the artwork and design, the specific talents & abilities for hundreds upon hundreds of characters, and an overall storyline that seemed to go on forever!  Without question, Matthew has a bright future ahead as he will undoubtedly look to either start his own business or join up with other companies that specialize in fantasy gaming or animation.  We wish him all the best with life after high school!

Monique S

We have been so lucky to have Monique with us at Claremont for her high school years. Although we are sad to see her go, we know she is going to do amazing things in her future. She is a student who embodies many amazing qualities and those who are lucky to be near her can see her shine.  She has immense dedication, perseverance, and resilience inside and outside of the classroom.  Monique was able to take a wide range of courses including CSI Rowing, Law, and AP English all while maintaining a high level of dedication to her part time job in the community.  Her personal strength and ambition are exemplary, and she can do pretty much anything she puts her mind too. Monique, we are just so very proud of you and we wish you all the best in the future!

Perry U

Perry will be graduating this June after an excellent 4 years within the CSI lacrosse academy and as a Claremont student.  Perry is an honest, dependable, hard-working young man who always gives his best.  He is also a loyal friend who has created valuable and meaningful friendships over the course of his time in high school. Perry was committed and dedicated to becoming the best lacrosse player he could be and did so without a complaint or avoidance of doing the work - in addition, it was usually done with a smile 😊  We would like to wish Perry all the best as he moves onto life beyond high school; it is with great pride that we will watch him cross the stage!

Tussak C

Tussak has come a long way on his journey through high school – his work ethic and commitment to finishing up strong in his Grade 12 year has shone through in spades. In his recent Capstone interview, Tussak did a wonderful job of presenting a unique and engaging overview of his newfound passion: Photography!  As a result, he now has the focus and direction he was looking for and the road ahead has become clearer than ever: Tussak hopes to one day be a special event photographer, and he is excited to continue expanding his portfolio of work as he gains more experience behind the camera.  We are truly proud of all that Tussak has accomplished!

Hermy's strength is his speed, intensity, and willingness to give everything he has to help the team succeed. He has offered to play multiple positions and always does so with a smile on his face.

Matt also has a bit of a knack in teaching/helping younger ones - he did an amazing job helping lead lacrosse units and teach young ones the game and skills at local elementary schools.

Grayson N

Grayson is a stellar athlete with a great sense of humour and the willingness to work hard and push himself for his team.

He has been a great asset to Claremont and we will miss him. Best luck in all your future endeavours Grayson!

Jessica U

Jess is a star! She is always willing to help and always looking to do more. In addition to her success around the building as a mentor and leader for indigenous studies and school leadership Jess was also very involved in Spartan athletics playing lacrossse, field hockey, and even a little basketball.

Jessica is just such an amazing kid! Seeing her over the years in the hallway would just make my day better. Her smile and friendly greeting was always so warm and genuine. I will definitely miss not having Jess in the building! I wish her every success!

Crash W

Crash's sass and quick wit is only matched by his big heart. He brings life to any room he walks into.

Crash’s is extremely committed to volleyball and has earned many accolades over his years in high school. He has represented Claremont for four years on our high achieving volleyball team as the starting setter. During this time he has been an island all star several times and an all-star and MVP in many tournaments throughout the province. Crash’s dynamic movement, accuracy and athleticism has earned the attention from several post secondary schools where he has offers to play.

Crash’s positive influence on his peers, his athletic growth and academic achievement are his greatest strengths and he will be missed!
