A title is the name of the source. However, when we are talking about bibliographical citation it is important to distinguish between the TITLE and the CONTAINER of a source.
The TITLE is what the source itself is called. whether it be a book, a poem, an essay, an object, a work of art, the title of an interview, an article or a webpage. The title is written with quotation marks "" marking its beginning and end. Titles include:
A source is often part of a greater source that contains the original source. The CONTAINER is the name of where the source is housed. A container's name is written in italics. Containers include:
In stand-alone sources, such as books, films, objects and works of art, the source is self-contained. Therefore, only the CONTAINER is used, and the source's name is written in Italics.
