The International Day of Families was founded by the United Nations to observe and celebrate the importance of families, (traditional and non-traditional), people, societies, and cultures around the world 🌎
On this day we acknowledge the value of families as a source of love, support and companionship to help us overcome difficult circumstances like the current pandemic 🤝
Today we celebrate the families of the Santiago College community, your strength, your love and your abilities to organize as a solid community that strives to embody the IB spirit: caring, empathetic and understanding of our differences.
So let's celebrate families today and remember that reading is a way to reinforce our bonds! 📖

This year we face new and harder difficulties than other years, a global pandemic is preventing us to go outside and live out our routines. Is books!! 📚
Books can challenge distance and time, they can open doors to infitine worlds and they can make you travel without having to move your feet.

Every 22th of april, Earth Day is celebrated around the world to demonstrate support for environmental protection and conservation. It was first celebrated in 1970, and since then more than 193 countries have joined to the global event coordinated by the Earth Day Network.
Eath Day is about taking a moment to reflect about our planet and the impact we have in it. It is about taking meaningful action across a variety of important issues such as climate change, plastic and pollution, conservation and restoration of natural resources, etc. It is also a day to highlight the importance of science and education and the role of people and communities to make a significant change in our planet.
Today we invite you to check out our list of resources and find out more about these environmental issues.
You'll find some activities for the little ones here and a few informative videos for Middle and Upper library.

Since 1967, the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), which is a non-profit organization that promotes children’s literature and encourages young people to read, has been celebrating the power of reading and the role of books in the development and education of children.
This month we joined in the celebration of children's literature and not even social distancing stopped us from sharing our favourite children's books!
On our Instagram Account we shared some pictures of children reading and our Lower School Librarians recommended us some books and shared some Readalouds with us!
March is the month we celebrate the often overlooked contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society. Our SC Library has organised various activities that encourage students and other members of our community to reflect, commemorate and study their vital role through time. Around our libraries you can find various displays with books written by women or that highlight and problematize their figure in different subjects; you'll also find famous quotes, relevant figures and even a mannequin that reflect the spirit of women's history month!
