Cavalieri's Principle

Definition:

• A method of finding the volume of a solid for which cross-sections by parallel planes have equal areas; if, in two solids of equal altitude, the cross sections made by parallel planes to and at the same distance from their respective bases are always equal, then the volume of the two solids are equal
