Students should be able to identify vertical, supplementary, and complimentary angles. Knowing the relationships of these types of angles, students should also be able to solve equations related to vertical, supplementary, and complimentary angles.

Vertical angles are across from and equal to each other.
∠1 ≅ ∠3
∠2 ≅ ∠4
Supplementary Angles
Supplementary Angles
Two angles that add up to 180°. Remember, 180° is a straight line!
∠1 + ∠2 = 180°
This is also called "linear pair".
Complimentary Angles
Complimentary Angles
Two angles that add up to 90°. 90° is also called a right angle. Right angles form perpendicular lines.
∠1 + ∠2 = 90°
