Quadratic Graphs

F.IF.a Graph...quadratic functions and show intercepts, maxima, and minima. Also A.CED.2,F.IF.4,F.IF.5

Student Goals:

Students will be able to know the quadratic functions and graph them.

Key Concept:

The graph on the left shows the parent function of the quadratic function. You can see that there is a U-shaped parabola and if you were to cut the graph straight down the middle, both sides will be the same which is called axis of symmetry.

The two graphs above show the same quadratic function. The graph on the left has a positive function so the graph has a minimum vertex. The graph on the right has a negative in the front which makes the graph open downward. This means that the graph on the right has a maximum vertex.
