Guidance with Mrs. Hill

Guidance and Family Advocate

I am thrilled to be working as the School Counselor and Family Advocate for the Jackson School District. Guidance programming in Jackson is designed to be comprehensive in nature, covering the needs of all students and families by providing a range of services including classroom lessons, small groups, individual meetings, crisis intervention and referrals.   The guidance program also serves as a resource for families looking for assistance with academic, behavioral, financial or social concerns.  I have the privilege of working with all Jackson students in grades K - 12, following the kids as they progress through the school system on their way to adulthood.

Classroom lessons are based on the SAU 9 elementary guidance curriculum, which addresses the social, personal, academic and career-based needs of students.  Specifically, I will be covering the following topics this school year:

K-1 – mindfulness, emotions, friendship skills, personal safety, diversity and tolerance and listening skills

2 – self-regulation, cooperation, problem-solving, bullying, communication and career awareness, mindfulness and emotions

3-4 – goal-setting, bullying, diversity, decision-making, stress management and career awareness and mindful practice

5-6 – organizational skills, peer pressure and bullying, problem-solving, stress management, substance use and career awareness.

Please contact me if I can be of assistance at 383- 6861 or v_hill@sau9.org
