The Impact of the 3 R's

Keeli S. reminds us of the importance of implementing the 3 R's, and the consequences should we not.

Climate issues are becoming a serious problem for people all over the world.

Climate change and waste production, for example, contribute to the things that negatively impact the earth. Some ways we can help reduce the level of chaos is by using the three “R’s”: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

Firstly, by reducing our consumption, we can greatly impact the environment by reducing waste production. According to Conscience.com it says, “Many items in conventional stores are wrapped in plastic which in turn leads to a huge plastic waste problem. Moreover, our consumption behavior also contributes to waste production.” We have not only been producing excess waste that has been hurting our environment, but we have also been hurting ourselves by littering and producing too much waste that we might not be able to turn the tables around and fix the problem.

In addition, reusing daily objects can greatly impact climate change, a global problem. By reusing objects such as paper, wood, and paper based products, it will help forests by reducing deforestation which allows more oxygen to come in. This helps the ice caps and glaciers remain unharmed and intact. For example in Santander it says, “Plastics are a major source of pollution on Earth. Unbridled manufacturing and low recycling rates of plastic products threaten our planet. Despite heightened awareness about recycling, we’re still far from turning things around” Not only that but we can reuse materials to try to reduce the amount of pollution that is threatening marine animals.

Lastly, recycling can positively affect the earth by reducing the amount of pollution. By recycling plastic and other recyclable things, we can reduce the amount of pollution which is a huge problem for many marine animals. For example in Earth Reminder it says, “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle helps in reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and save the environment.” This tells us that by using the three “R’s” we can infer that we can impact the environment positively by using them.

Ultimately, using the three “R’s” can greatly affect our environment globally. Following the three “R’s” can lead to making natural disasters less catastrophic and global issues less chaotic. By following this simple but hard-to-maintain structure, we can strive to make the world a better place.
