Did you know that aliens might be real… and near? Maybe even in our solar system. Some people believe and debate on whether or not aliens are real. Evidence has even been brought before the US Congress. You may have heard the phrase “UFO” or “Unidentified Flying Object", but the US Government now calls them “UAPs” or “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena”.
One reason people may believe in extraterrestrial life is that there have been many UAP sightings in the past 80 years. Another reason is that there are other planets like Kepler-452b that could be habitable. One could reasoning that another intelligent life force could be living on a planet like Kepler-452b. One last reason is that most scientists agree that life almost certainly exists somewhere in the ever expanding universe.
However, some people don't believe in aliens. One reason is that if aliens are real, then we probably would have found out by now. Another reason is that people think aliens are a made up thing only in movies, books, and comics and have been made popular by society’s imagination. Finally, Michael W. Clune wrote in The Atlantic that “humanity must learn to find meaning without relying on gods or extraterrestrials”.
This mystery has bugged humankind for centuries and has never been answered with certainty. In the cases of Roswell and Area 51 actual facts have proven that they were indeed misunderstandings by the public. What do you think, are aliens real or are humans trying to make meaning out of the largely unknown mysteries of space?
