A dog is a man's best friend, or is a man a dog's best friend? Dogs have a positive impact on our physical and mental health. Dogs can help us physically by keeping us active, and service dogs can keep you healthy and safe. Dogs can also help us mentally by putting a smile on our face every day while also helping relieve stress. A dog is the only thing that can be the best doctor and the best friend.

Dogs can make a huge impact on our physical health. Service dogs are the best trained dogs to help you physically. Service dogs can also come in many different breeds such as, Golden Retriever, Labrador retriever, German Shepherd, Poodle, Border Collie, Bernese mountain Dog, Pomeranian, Boxer, Great Dane, Doberman, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Havanese, and the Beagle. These service dogs can help you in more than 10 different ways to your needs. Some of the things they can help us with are, hearing, Diabetes, guidance, retrieving dropped items, and more! Another way dogs help us physically is by their need to exercise. High energy dogs are good if you want to be active and exercise. If you want to find out more, students at Purdue University are working to help you too! Also, you can train a dog by yourself, or you can get a service dog at Service Dog Elite. After all, dogs can help you in many ways physically.

Even though dogs can help us physically they can also help us mentally.  One article, by The Human Animal Bond Research Institute, showed that 74% of pet owners reported mental health improvements from pet ownership. For example, calm dogs can also bring your mood to a calmer state. Just running your fingers through their fur is very calming, makes you happy, and can put you in a safe place. A dog will walk up to you and put a smile on your face, while also increasing your confidence. We should embrace the love of dogs because that is their job. These are just a couple ways that dogs can improve your mental health, yet there are many more.

As you can see dogs have many benefits with our physical health and mental health. Dogs can make a huge impact on us for the better. If you are looking to get a dog, or wanting to train your dog to be a service dog, then visit a local animal shelter or pet store for more information.
