As of 2022, 44.5% of U.S. households own dogs. Henry T. makes a case that restaurants could increase their profits by opening their doors to furry friends and their paying owners.

Dogs are a man’s best friend, but for years people had to leave their furry friends at home when they went out to eat. Now, this trend is changing; restaurants are now allowing dogs in their eateries. But it’s not always accepted everywhere, and not every person wants to go to a dog friendly restaurant. However, letting dogs accompany their owners can be profitable.
People might want to go more places if they have their dogs right beside them. They also might be willing to buy more stuff if their dogs are allowed in shops. People might like to take their dogs to the mall, which could be profitable for store owners. But more likely, people like to take their dog to a dog-friend restaurant. According to Forbes, 65.1 million American households own a dog. These owners don't want to leave their dogs at home when they head out to eat. Additionally, dogs don't even want to be left at home either; dogs can feel lonely, according to Country Living Magazine.
Many owners take their dog with them everywhere they go; they even might take their dog to work. When it's time for lunch, this person wants to find a dog-friendly restaurant. But sometimes restaurants will only allow service animals, which are protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Sometimes, they allow dogs on patios but they can't enter the food areas. Other times, employees are expected to not interact with the dogs. If people just follow the rules, there would be no problem in having dogs in the restaurant.
