The Concept that was chosen for this project, was the primary focus was the culture in WA, I chose this specifically becuase one of the main reasons that I love living in WA is that there is such a diverse culture scene. There are Africans, European, Asian and Indian communities scattered throughout the state.
These ideations were done quickly with my alcoholic markers and highlighters I borrowed. They were fast thumbnails done with the sole purpose of figuring out a layout for the actual design of the craft beer, several different persepectives were tried out to discover which one was the best fit. Through the ideation process and feedback that was recieved from peers, the lecturers and other sources I was able to combine a few of the designs and fcome up with a final sketch
On a zoom class Ange said to try using a movie scene like in pochontas as inspiration since the perspective in that was already very clear and had more dynamic.
feedback from Jake when i said i was having trouble with the design he pulled together a quick mockup on how i could layout my design differently. This gave me the idea to try different perspectives
Since I was stuck on the design for the can and i could not make up my mind on how to approach the project I decided to take a whole new apporach to the design. one way that I did that was to toally change myths or cultures and focus on the Japanese culture in WA. I still kept the pink lake as my focus but thought that instead of a lochness monster I could have a Samurai instead with koi fish
Using the koifish birds eye view I then tried again with my lochness monster idea and did a monster from birds eye view which was very dynamic and looked aesthetically pleasing. the whole story of the label though was not as clear as it was before, viewers would not be able to tell that this was the lochness monster in the pink lake of WA simply a water monster sneaking up on a man in pink water.
So I went back to my originall ideation after all of my other paths did not turn out the way that I wanted.
When we did the presentations in class to show our peers what our designs looked like the first ideation on the top is what i had, the main feedback I got was that the scroll did not fitwith the design style. It loooked good but was totally seperate from the rest of the design witht eh shading and colouring. I also recieved the feedback to move the sky line up.
The other thing that i changed which is evident in the bottom ideation was that i actually chose a typeface to go into the scroll on the front of the can. i chose it in dafont and then used procreate to warp it to size for a more natural and fluid look.
