Hey, I’m Jake Carter and I’m a 20-year-old Australian chasing my creative passions by studying a bachelor of design at SAE Institute Perth. My interests have always been birthed from creativity either it being me doing dance classes as a kid, studying film on weekends as an early teen, and now trying to become a “Graphic Designer” - I’m not really a big fan of titles. I’m a family man who enjoys spending time with family and friends whenever I can. I value my connections with people, and always strive to spread positivity when possible. I’m very introspective and always look at aspects of my life that I can Improve on. I hope one day in the future I will become a multidisciplinary artist and be able to make a career out of my creative passions and spread my love for the arts to others.

For my foliozene I decided to go for a look characterized by symbols I created that embodies my personality and style.
So I created these cartoon symbols in Photoshop to start building the aesthetic of the pages.
These illustrations became the core foundation for the front cover as I used them in addition to the character I made of myself through adjustments and tweaks, through the trimester I was able to add and change the original versions of the front cover using new family of fonts and aesthetics.
These were the first initial renditions of my foliozene that I went onto develop further during the trimester. I made changes to the fonts used and updated them to Akira and Helvetica Neue Regular. I decided to stay away from the punk feel of the original 4 pages and simplified it down by using bolder fonts and simplifying elements making it clear and concise.

For project 2 we were tasked to pick a WA landmark to base our craft beer labels on. For my project I decided I would pick Twilight beach in esperence. Twilight beach is located on the WA coast in Esperence, the beach is iconic for its crystal clear water contrasted to its paper white sand. It isalso known for its elevated rock formations, in the water - perfect for diving.
I picked these cans as I wanted to embrace the bizzare collage aspect and implement these features in the design of my can.
Two sharks on the left side have been replaced with the collage bat to make the image more out of the ordinary.
Standard beer ingredients labels have been replaced with my own custom labels
The shark has been placed on the ingredients label to add more character
Pirate ship was added to fill the empty space and to add to the lore of the image.

The album features primarily the band member Kevin Abstract as he talks about the band's struggles over the years and the inevitable breakup. Heavily inspired by New York Kevin constructed the weirdest, saddest and most interesting Brockhampton album yet, Abstract sums this album up perfectly with his interview with Pitchfork "With this project, a few of us were inspired to make something new that would bring closure to the past, and set the table for all of us to finally be able to explore our individual futures."
Money, Heartbreak, Depression, Family, America, Community and Addiction.
I hope to apeal to the loyal Brockhampton fanbase through keeping certain style elements throughout the front and back cover, while giving the remake of the cover a twist that might rope in a new audience.
For project 2 I decided to pick the album cover for The Family by Brockhampton. The Family by Brockhampton is the “final” album released under their label RCA. The Family is 17 tracks long with a runtime of 35 minutes.
Taking inspiration from the story of the album, I was looking at biblical imagery to resemble resurrection - as if the band is being resurrected by the record label to make the last album.Taking inspiration from the story of the album, I was looking at biblical imagery to resemble resurrection - as if the band is being resurrected by the record label to make the last album.
Branching off of the original concept for the album cover, I thought it would be cool to have it in the style of punk, grunge/ vintage as a homage to horror and its many tropes while paying homage to the original concept of the band being resurrected.
I went back to the drawing boards and started to think of new concepts. Thinking about the end of the band being bitter sweet it got my brain thinking about fruits or foods that are bitter and sweet and I started to look into lemons.
