The criteria of this project were to draw the pure contour of our hand with a rubber band and of three views of a shoe, in this case, my shoe. The first part of the project was to draw a pure contour of a hand holding a rubber band in some way. The second part of the project was to draw three views of a shoe: side/profile, front, and top view. The main material used for this project was graphite with different rages in hardness.
To compose the drawings, I used my mechanical pencil, which has a 2 HB hardness, to sketch out the lines of my object. I paid close attention to the lines and spaces pertaining to the object. Next, to create depth in the drawing, I valued the "closer" lines in darker graphite, either pushing harder on the pencil or using a 4 B or 6 B pencil.
I have been running on the thought of hope and feelings of others for the past few weeks. The hand drawing kind of reminds me of someone crossing their fingers or an infinity symbol representing that life goes on. The shoe drawings are that of "to walk in someone else's shoes", paying attention to the thoughts and feelings of others. If I could redo the drawings, I would like to value the hand drawing more to create more contrast and give the illusion of depth. For the shoe drawings, I would like to make the front view and top view of the shoe more proportionate because the front view and the top view of the shoe look similar.
