This project was to create a creative color design which I planned to combine with the Inclusion contest. To compose my piece I used all 84 colors on the color wheel in acrylic paint, a paintbrush, and canvas.
Taking inspiration from Aaron Douglas I first sketched out my landscape and then divided it into different sections. Next, I painted in all the divided sections. Then I painted in the Northern Lights. I then painted in the trees. Finally, I added some "texture" to the water.
I chose this design because I wanted to convey that no matter how different you are you are still able to experience the same thing but in a different unique way represented by the different color sections. The setting of this piece is original of the Northern Lights, but could also be interpreted as a sunset. I decided on this set because I wanted to include something of Maine. If I were to do this again I would add more layers to the more transparent sections and have more distinct shades of color.
