Inspired Photograms

Artist Statement

The subject of this photo is the word and dogs. Also the subject is outdoor. I choose this subject because I was inspired by Road to Factory with Zebra, 2014. Road to Factory with Zebra inspired me because I liked how the zebra stood proud as it looked down the tracks like it was remembering a fond memory of what used to be there. To make this I took thee images, the background, the first dog, and the second dog. I edited the two dog photos so it was only the dog and placed them to be looking back at each other. I really wanted the first dog to be looking out like it was remembering something how the zebra did. Then I added the second dog because I wanted the memory to be looking back at the dog. I then developed the photo in the dark room after printing it on transparent paper. It turned out to be missing contrast. So after scanning it I increased the contrast and decreased the exposer. I then get a blurring tool to add shadows to get rid of splash marks from the developer. I chooses to create this image because a lot of Brandt’s work is of landscapes and animals. To me it symbolizes how we impact the planet. I like how this photo turned out after editing it in photoshop. Before it was way to grey and I was missing information.
