Artist Statement

The subject behind this photo has to do with what we are able to see and what we miss in our everyday march through life. In this photo there is information that you can no longer see as well as information that is getting washed away. There are ware and imperfections that we all have. I created this photo with a Pentax film camera. The composition is a formal balance, soft focus, and high key lighting. I took this photo out side when it was snowing and accidently had my shutter speed slowed this resulted in a blurry outcome. Beautiful flakes of snow turned from farmless to scratches on the paper. The shinning sun turned from a gentle solar flare to a blinding glow as it deleted information. This simple mistake created something beyond recognition. But, once beyond recognition it becomes something new with its own story.
