Inspired Art

Artist Statement

The subject of these two photos is trees and leaves. Also the subject is outdoor. I choose this subject because I was inspired by Green Daze, 2017 and Lichen, 2015. Green Daze inspired me because I liked how the tree canopy looked like a path. Lichen inspired me because I liked the trees, vines, and leaves. I edited my images by enhancing the colors, the shadows, the sharpness, and the temperature. I decreased the highlights and temperature. I chooses to take the first photo because I likes how the tree canopy looked. So, I mimicked that with the pathway. At first I was only going to take one inspired image. However, I decided I wanted to take two images inspired by different things. But, about the same subject. I chooses to create my image because a lot of Hargraves work is of nature and to me it symbolizes mother nature. So I took my first one of the pathway and had it included a broken tree to symbolize how we humans treat mother nature. I think the first one could be stronger is I had involved more of the dried up stream below the broken tree. Something that bothers me is how bright all the leaves are to colorful and I should have not enhanced them so much.
