Artist Statement

These photos are all linked to the eighteen rules of Composition for each one is an example of one of eighteen. These photos were taken with a Nikon D50 by seeing the Rules of Composition myself and then capturing them. I took many photos looking for eighteen I wanted to use. I went through the process of elimination with all the images based on which ones looked the most appealing that displayed one of the eighteen rules. All eighteen rules are showed in at least one image. The Low-Key Lighting images are an example of close distance as well because of how close the photo was taken. I feel like my Repetition and Formal Balance images could have been stronger. Repetition could have been stronger if I had taken something that had more to the image and not just the squares; something like a group of flowers, grass, or rocks. Formal Balance could have been stronger if the image had buildings or something other than the trees.
